3RD annual Hugh Heward Challenge, 4-20-2002, on the Grand River, from Burchfield Park (Holt, MI) to Portland, MI, 50 miles. Recreates the April 24, 1790 voyage by Hugh Heward fur-trading party of 8 in 2 birchbark canoes. Meet 6 AM, launch 6:30 AM. We are encouraging canoe racers to start at 10:00 AM. That way, the rest of us would get to see you in action, as well as possibly visit with you while enjoying the chili together afterward at the finish. Paddle all 50 miles or a river section of your choice. Any help and encouragement appreciated.
