Event Information:

Registered Marathon paddlers will be able to Dash for the $5,000 Cash Pool on Tuesday July 26, 2011, in Oscoda.  Sprints are scheduled to be held in approx. 3 minute intervals from 3:00pm until 7:20pm.  Prize money will be handed out at 8:00pm, (paddlers must be present to collect their prize), after which, from 8:30 until 9:00pm, there will be a meet-and-greet session to give the community a chance to meet the paddlers.

  • Participation in this event is not mandatory, however it is extremely encouraged. Only registered Marathon paddlers will be allowed to enter, but paddlers can enter the Dash for Cash with any other Marathon registered paddler not already checked-in for the Dash for CashThere is no fee to participate, but paddlers must check-in for the Dash for Cash between 10:30a.m. and 2:00p.m.
  • Check-in will be held at the AuSable Inn.
     
  • The course will be approx. 1/4 mile in length. Two teams will sprint downstream at once, starting from behind Gilbert's Pharmacy and finishing at the Mill Street Bridge.  The sprint durations are estimated to last approx. 1min:15sec per heat.
     
  • The Dash for Cash will be an up-to 64-team, bracket-style, single elimination event.  Teams will be positioned on the bracket by way of random draw as they check-in.  Only the first 64-teams to sign up for the Dash for Cash will be allowed to compete.

Paddlers will be able to register for this event when they register for the AuSable River Canoe Marathon.  The entry form for the Dash for Cash will be in the Entry Packet.

Round 2 (Sixteenth-Finals):  5:00:pm-5:48pm

Round 4 (Quarter-Finals):  6:36pm-6:48pm
Round 5 (Semi-Finals):  7:00pm-7:06pm
Round 6 (Championship Dash):  7:18pm
Awards:  To be held shortly after the final sprint

Payout

Each of the 64 teams that compete will receive prize money.  The payout is as follows:

1st: $400
2nd: $350
3rd-4th: $250
5th-8th: $150
9th-16th: $100
17th-32nd: $50
33rd-64th: $30

$100 in bonuses will be given out to each of the following classes:
- Women's    (Both female paddlers)
- Mixed        (One male, one female paddler)
- Masters    (Both paddlers aged 40+ years)
- Seniors        (Both paddlers aged 50+ years)
- Veterans    (Both paddlers aged 60+ years)
- Out of State    (Both racers reside outside of Michigan)
- International    (Both paddlers reside outside the USA)
- Continental     (One Michigan, one non-Michigan paddler)
