July 12^th & 13^th Curley Memorial Canoe Race

Saturday

Oscoda, MI, June 18, 2003 – The 10^th Annual Curley Memorial MCRA C-2 Race – Come out and watch experts and amateurs race in one of the Michigan Canoe Racing Association’s most popular professional canoe races.

Location: Race starts at the wall of Cooke Dam; canoers paddle upstream to round a buoy and then come back to portage over the dam and continue downstream; canoers portage a second time at Foote Dam and then proceed to the Finish Line at the Mill Street Bridge and pull out at the AuSable Inn

Time: Saturday July 12^th, Registration starts at 8 am, race starts at 8:45 am

Memorial and fellowship for Kevin Curley to be held at the Canoers Monument on River Road. Dedication of memorial plaque to be placed on the monument by the Michigan Canoe Racing Association to honor Kevin’s many years of dedication to the sport of canoe racing as well as his efforts to promote paddling sports in general.

Location: Canoers Monument, River Road west of Lumberman’s Monument

Time: 6:30 pm

Sunday

Breakfast with the paddlers and registration for the C-1 race.

Location: AuSable Inn and Finish Line Sports Bar

Time: 7:30-9:30 am
